New Editor
MWeb is a tool for Markdown writing, note-taking and static blog generation, but the previous version was a little lacking in performance and standards support.
So in the new MWeb 4, the developers have integrated the previously developed One Markdown into the software, and it is compatible with Apple M1 chip computers for better compatibility.
There is full support for the widely used CommonMark standard and GitHub Flavored Markdown features, and with the new technology, performance is greatly improved, allowing for smooth editing of millions of words.
The editor also has excellent support for other content, with the ability to add tables, LaTeX formulas, footnotes, create and edit TextBundle documents directly, and support for drawing libraries such as Mermaid, Echarts and Graphviz.
Inserting images can be displayed directly in the new editor, which is much more intuitive and convenient than before. With better support for code blocks and HTML in lists, the new version of MWeb lets you get creative with your writing.
Notes library feature
MWeb’s notes feature still works well. Click on the icon in the Mac status bar to add notes or images directly to your material, and you can combine added material in a single document on a day-by-day basis, making it easy to organise and keep track of your collection history.
Powerful document library mode with category tree and tagging for managing documents. Documents can be grouped into multiple categories and global shortcuts can be used to pull up searches and locate the document you need.
The new version has an optimised interface with tools at the top for easy editing of all kinds. It is also possible to sync iCloud across devices for document library management, making it ideal for collecting, managing and exporting notes and personal knowledge.
MWeb 4 also supports an external mode for editing MD files directly using the directory tree, making it easy to edit on the fly.
Markdown output
A good writing tool creates good work and has to be able to publish it. With MWeb you can export your Markdown documents to image, HTML, EPUB, PDF, RTF and DOCX formats, which is more than enough for everyday use.
The built-in image upload function supports Google Photos, Imgur, Seven Cows Cloud, Another Cloud and custom image bed services. Local images are quickly transferred to the web, solving all the problems of displaying images in Markdown.
The integration of various platforms for publishing is a special feature of MWeb: it supports publishing to WordPress, services supporting the MetaWeblog API protocol, Impression Notes, Blogger, WeChat and Medium, making writing and publishing as smooth as running water.
