It automatically normalises the volume of audio files and losslessly adjusts the loudness of audio tracks. It performs statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear. Supports a wide range of audio formats (mp3, wma, wav, flac, m4a, ac3, mp2, ogg) and supports batch adjustment of audio volume. Note: DRM protected audio files are not supported.
Application Description
MP3Gain (MP3 tuner) is an excellent free MP3 volume balance adjustment software, which can perform track analysis and album comparison analysis on MP3 files, and perfectly correct volume defects by cropping, track volume increase or decrease, album volume balance, channel adjustment and other functions without loss of sound quality; it also supports batch processing, just fill in the volume decibels we want, which is convenient and quick; in addition, the VB runtime library is included, so you don’t need to download VB run-time again.
How to use
First click on the “Add File” button on the main interface and select the MP3 file you want to change the volume of in the pop-up dialog box. If you want to change the volume of all MP3 songs in a folder, then select “Add Folder”. Then click on the “Track Analysis” item and you can start analysing the added MP3 files. Click on the drop down arrow to the right of ‘Track Analysis’ and you will see three options, which are
Track Analysis.
The selected MP3s will be analysed individually, one by one, and the results will be displayed in the list below.
Album analysis.
Analyse the MP3s as a whole, part by part, analysing the volume of the MP3 files and calculating an average of the volume of all the MP3s added, so that the volume of all the files can be compared.
Clear analysis results.
There are eight items in the analysis results: from left to right: Path / File, Volume in decibels (dB), Crop (subtracts the overly loud parts of the MP3 source), Track volume up or down (the number of decibels to boost for the target volume track), Crop (Track), Album volume, Album volume up or down (the number of decibels to boost for the target volume album), Crop (Album).
After the analysis you can change the volume of the MP3. In the main screen, under “Object ‘normal’ volume”, just fill in the desired volume number.
Software operation
The recommended setting for the software is 89.0 dB, most MP3s are between 90 dB and 98 dB. The recommended setting is 95 dB. Another point to note here is the limitation of the MP3 format itself. The change range must be at least 1.5 dB. This means that the target volume must be at least 1.5dB different from the original volume, otherwise the original volume is still used.
Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of “Track Volume Up/Down” and you will see a total of three options.
Track Volume Up/Down.
This allows you to change the average output value of all tracks of an MP3 file to the target value, which is a more noticeable change in volume. This is usually effective for files with particularly low volume levels.
Album volume up/down.
If we have an MP3 file from the same CD and the volume of individual parts of it is particularly high. You can use the Album Volume Up/Down tool to bring the peak value of this batch of MP3 files to the target value, while at the same time changing the average output value of the tracks due to the change in peak value. None of the files in the batch will exceed the target volume, i.e. the volume is changed while the respective average of the original tracks is retained to the greatest extent possible.
Constant volume increase and decrease.
He increases the tracks of the MP3 file all by the same amount instead of increasing them to the same value. The target volume input is useless for this. In the pop-up dialog you can adjust the standard volume in decibels and you can also use the channel selection function to change the volume of individual channels.
At the end of the toolbar there are two icons Clear files and Clear all, which are used to delete MP3 files from the software list.
